New Genshin Impact 5.1 leaks have emerged ahead of the update and they prove I was correct about Capitano’s intentions for Natlan. Capitano is one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers and he is portrayed as an antagonist in the campaign. So far, he has challenged and dueled against the Pyro Archon Mavuika before leaving after being injured in the battle. The Fatui Harbinger has made it clear that he is there to defy Mavuika’s reign over Natlan, though Capitano’s true intentions in Genshin Impact are still unknown, even if there have been hints at a possible resurrection rite for Signora.
Even so, it does seem like Capitano has Natlan’s salvation in his interests, despite the different approach and defiance of the Pyro Archon’s rule over the land. He has stated that Mavuika is not capable of saving the Nation of Pyro from the grasp of the Abyss’ incursion on it and that he, with the Pyro Gnosis, would be capable of preventing Natlan’s doom. Because of his limited screen time so far, however, it is uncertain exactly what he plans on doing. Now, new leaks about Capitano in Genshin Impact 5.1 shed some light on what he desires.
Capitano Wants To Save Natlan In Genshin Impact
The Fatui Harbinger’s Defiance Of Mavuika May Be Justified

The alleged Capitano leaks revolve around a certain dialogue with the Traveler, as presented in a post shared on Reddit. The leak showcases Ororon trapping the Traveler and presenting them upon the Fatui Harbinger. During the conversation, Capitano formally addresses the Traveler, requesting a meeting so that he can explain his goals and motivations in Natlan, as well as the reasoning that leads him to mistrust Mavuika as the Pyro Archon. Capitano mentions that there is no reason for the Traveler to blindly put their trust in Mavuika and follow her plans in Genshin Impact’s Natlan story arc.
Capitano proposes a more comfortable meeting to the east of the Stadium of the Sacred Flame – perhaps without any restraints imposed by Ororon. The Fatui Harbinger asks the Traveler to keep the meeting a secret so as to avoid any new conflicts. This is most likely his way of saying he does not want to fight Mavuika or any of her allies again, as he explains his case to the Traveler. After this, he seemingly leaves and allows Ororon to release his restrains over the Traveler and they each follow their paths, which could later lead to the reunion.

So far, all signs point toward Capitano’s desire to save Natlan, even if he chaotically disagrees with Mavuika’s methods. His defiance of the Pyro Archon revolves around the idea that she is not worthy of wielding the Pyro Gnosis to protect Natlan and that he is a much better candidate for the job. This does not seem like a simple desire for celestial power, but a genuine concern over how the Nation of Pyro will be protected from the Abyss’ influence under Mavuika’s management.
The exact nature of what he will propose and his argument as to why Mavuika should not be trusted remains to be seen, but Capitano does not seem like a villain in Genshin Impact.
In fact, previous leaks about the Fatui Harbinger had already led me to such an understanding. The leaks about Capitano mentioned that he “abhors” all types of evil and, even if his methods may be brutal and blunt, this rumored key point of his personality should lead us to question why he is so intent on defying Mavuika and her methods to save Natlan. The Pyro Archon has apparently been straightforward with her allies, including the Traveler, but there seem to be many secrets revolving around Mavuika in Genshin Impact.
What Mavuika May Be Hiding In Genshin Impact
The Pyro Archon Is Holding Back Secrets From Her Allies
In spite of the fact that Mavuika explained her plan to assemble heroes from Natlan to fight the Abyss’ assault on the Nation of Pyro, there have been indications she is hiding many secrets, even from her allies. This includes details about her past – while they may be restrained to her character’s development by showcasing her internal conflicts, they may play an important role in how she behaves and acts to fulfill her duties as the Pyro Archon, and this may explain why Capitano is challenging her in Genshin Impact’s story arc in Natlan.
In a flashback, Mavuika is seen encountering several figures from her past, all of which seemingly help her rationalize and reflect on her current struggles, centuries later.
The most important part of Mavuika’s alleged secrets, however, lies outside of the game itself. In the Natlan teaser trailer that presented the roster of characters from the Nation of Pyro, Mavuika is seen entering a dark chamber and speaking with an off-screen figure. There have been several leaks and rumors about a character called Xbalanque in Genshin Impact and their importance to the Nation of Pyro. Xbalanque is rumored to be an ancient hero, but leaks indicate they may still remain present in Natlan in some manner.
In addition to that, there have also been rumors about the Pyro Sovereign, who may or may not be deceased. The character was previously referred to as Xolotl in leaks, but a new leak about them states that they are now called Xiuhcoatl. This leaked Pyro Sovereign name change in Genshin Impact may indicate that the Pyro Sovereign is a serpent-like dragon. There should be heavy lore consequences if the Pyro Sovereign is still alive under Mavuika’s reign, especially because, historically, the tyrant creature was said to be subdued by Xbalanque.

Genshin Impact's Sandrone Leaks Are Making Me Particularly Thrilled For What May Be A Horror Story
Details about Sandrone’s personality in Genshin Impact have leaked and they may be hinting at what will be a thrilling story arc in Snezhnaya.
This may be part of why Capitano defies and mistrusts Mavuika as the Pyro Archon. The Pyro character may be holding back important secrets that could potentially change the shape of the Nation. While he does take on an antagonist’s role in the story, Capitano may not actually be a villain. I suspect that his interests and Mavuika’s will align closer to the conclusion of the Natlan arc, but the new leaks seem to prove that my suspicions about Capitano’s intent were correct from the get-go, even if he was first presented as a menacing opponent in Genshin Impact.
